Produced by Gene Simmons of KISS, the hard-hitting WOW album was the first of two Wendy O. Williams albums where, with the goal of focusing more on Wendy's vocals. The album was picked by KERRANG!'s Malcolm Dome as his "Album of the Year", and Wendy got a Grammy Nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance of the Year as a result. Players on the album in include Wes Beech (lead and rhythm guitar),Michael Ray, a Simmons' discovery (lead and rhythm guitar), T.C. Tolliver (drums), and Gene Simmons, under the pseudonym "Reginald Van Helsing" (bass). Special guest players include Paul Stanley (guitar on "Ready to Rock"), Ace Frehely (lead guitar on "Bump and Grind"), and Eric Carr (drums on "Legends Never Die") from KISS among others. The video produced and directed by Plasmatics creator Rod Swenson for the song 'It's My Life" from the album features Wendy in what some have called the most daring music video in the history of rock, doing a transfer from a moving car to an airplane on a rope ladder without a safety harness.
